Low Progesterone in Early Pregnancy: What Do Levels of 40+ Mean?
QuestionHello. I am 38 years old (soon to be 39). I have had two miscarriages (with a healthy child in between). I am now 6 weeks pregnant. In the past I have had low progesterone with the miscarriages. This time, I once again had low numers (10.5 at 4 weeks pregnant) so they put me on prometrium and vaginal suppositories. My level is now over 40 and HCG is over 5000. I am wondering if this is a good sign. We have seen the fetal heartbeat at 6 weeks via a transvaginal ultrasound. I just need some reassurance.

Things look OK but u should have more frequent visits to your obstetrician because at your age with a history of previous 2 miscarriages, I consider your pregnancy as a high risk and very precious. hCG is not really a reliable sign for anything.
I wish you a pregnancy without complications and normal delivery and a healthy baby.
