Infertility Concerns at 23: Understanding Cycles & Past Surgeries

Question
i have been with my husband for 6 years. I am 23. I have never taken any form of birth control but yet i still am not pregnant. I have regular periods with about a 32 day cycle. i have even tried taking an herbal blend from the pharmacy that is supposed to help you get pregnant. I am afraid I am am running out of time to try because last year I was diagnosed with multiple dermoid cysts inside and outside my ovaries so they did surgery and cleaned them out good and while in there the dr. said he also cleaned out my tubes good and that I might get pregnant shortly after that. He also said if the cysts come back I will have to have my ovaries removed. Is there something I could do to help? because I don't understand why I can't get pregnant even though I have regular periods. Also, I have purchased on of those home tests to check my husbands sperm count and it came out ok.

Answer
Women can still have periods but not be fertile.  It is one of the mysteries of the universe.  Sounds like you are working with a doctor to help get at the bottom of the problem.  You might look into thyroid problems and visit with a nutritionist or naturopathy who specializes in women's issues and fertility.  There may be some other herbal supplements or vitamins you can take to help get pregnant.  23 is still young, you do want to get started but don't panic yet!
