Dizziness and Neurological Symptoms: Causes and What to Do

Question
I am a 44 year old female who suddenly began experiencing dizziness on March 22 of this year. Along with this dizziness came an onset of multiple symptoms. Some of these symptoms are:of course the dizziness, feeling unbalanced, pressure in my head, a numbness like feeling in my ear areas on both sides, difficulty swallowing, numbness and tingling in both my hands and legs and feet at times, constant fatigue after I have one of these episodes, increased blood pressure and heartrate, difficulty breathing, and sometimes when I try and sleep at night as I began to doze off I feel like I am unable to breath at all and suddenly wake up gasping for breath, difficulty sleeping(this has been a problem for sometime) and now seems to be starting to worsen, the pressure too at times seems to be in my ears, I also have ringing in the ears, I can't even think of all the symptoms I have had. This has never happened to me until the first time on March 22. I have had so many medical tests and seen so many doctors and been told so many things from, panic attacks, to we don't know what it is. I finally demanded to be seen by a neurologist and she too at first didn't really know, but did an EEG and it came back abnormal. I was told it showed signs of slowing in the left temporal area of the brain, which she told me was an indicator of recent seizure activity. I was put on Keppra  and had done fairly well on it until about 2 weeks ago when I had another episode. And ever since that episode I have felt horrible again. Only this time, a lot of nervousness in my body seems to exist. I know I am having a hard time with all of this and just the shear not knowing if it is ever going  to go away. I had been prescribed numerous meds throughout all of this. And taken so many tests and seen about 9 different doctors. I can't even tell you all the things I have been told. Too many different things to even remember. I did go to UAMS in Little Rock, AR last week and saw another neuro specialist and he did another EEG on me and told me it did show the slowing. He wants to also do a Video EEG. To be quite frank, I just don't know if anyone knows what is going on. My MRI and all the other tests have come back o.k. except for the EEG. There is no history of seizures in my family on either side. And up until last year when I was diagnosed with Strep-oseteomylitis in my left radius(it had all but eaten thru my bone)I have been healthy. I was first told it was bone cancer here, but sent to UAMS and found out after surgery it was not, Praise God! I also had a severe allergic reaction to the vancomyacin they tried to give me when I was going to be released. I nearly died from it. And basically ever since all this I have not been the same. I am just wondering if any of this could be related. I have asked the doctors I have seen and they don't seem to think so. I just feel bad 24/7 and it is not getting any better. I cannot afford to keep missing work. I so need some answers or maybe to be pointed in the right direction. Any suggestions?? I would greatly appreciate your input as an outsider.

Thank you.
Tammy

Answer
I always try to go back to basics when things get complicated... pick the biggest symptoms- dizziness.... make sure the BP and heart rate are OK, then evaluate the inner ear function (balance organs) I would typically try meclizine for it and if it helps, that means it prob is an inner ear problem.  Obviously yours is very complicated... I hope you have an interested primary care doctor to make sense of all the specialty testing.... good luck with it....
