QuestionMy period has been irregular from 31 day to 32 to 31 to 38 and just this May 2009 it came on the 40th day. Could this be normal? as I have heard that women with more than 35 day menstrual circle are most likely not ovulating. Right now i can not tell when the next period is likely to come. Please help as i am trying to get pregnant again . I had my first baby two and half year ago through caesarian section.
AnswerHello,
Basically if the period is within 7 days of the last cycle, it is considered within normal, so a variation of only 1-5 days, as you mentioned, are not irregular. The 40 day cycle is a little long.
Such variation would make it difficult to time your intercourse. If you have a period, then that is an indication of ovulation. Women will not have a period if they do not ovulate.
I think that if you continue to try for 12 months and do not get pregnant on your own, then you should seek a specialist to help you out. It may only take some help with a low dose fertility medication and timing with the ultrasound.
