QuestionI am on my first cycle of clomid 50mg.... my cycles usually are 25-28 days... my dr. took a day 23 progesterone level which was 10.52 just to make sure i ovulated... it is now day 31 and I still have not gotten my period... we took a blood test and repeat progesterone level at day 29... pregnancy test was negative and progesterone levels have dropped to 3.52... is there a chance i can still be pregnant? can clomid delay my cycle? is there a chance I didn't ovulate until day 23 and therefore the pregancy test was too early?
AnswerHello Renee from the U.S.,
Your progesterone indicated that you ovulated, but there is no way to know exactly which day that occurred since your doctor did not monitor you by ultrasound. If you were taking supplemental progesterone, that could delay your menses. If not, then it is possible that you may have had a chemical pregnancy but now the levels have dropped so that it was not detected. Ask you doctor for the pregnancy test number, not positive/negative. Sometimes the lab will call a low positive test as a negative if it doesn't reach their threshold level but it is still a positive and still good to know. We call this a chemical pregnancy. It is good to know because it confirms that the body did all the steps that it needed to do for implantation and pregnancy to occur, and confirms that you can become pregnant by this method. Clomid will not be the cause for the delay.
Please see my blog post on my method for Clomid ovulation induction cycles so that you know what is the preferred method.
