I am a 53 year old female who started having problems sleeping after menopause. This occured in my mid 40s. I recently started taking Tylenol PM which has helped. Is this harmful to take? I don't like taking medicine, but the sleep deprivation is really getting to me.
Answer -
tylenol PM is taking benadryl, the antihistamine which is safe to take, but doesn't give someone the best kind of sleep... you should talk to your doctor about some of the other sleep medications that are available.
What about side effects from sleep medication? That has really been in the news lately.
Answerthe ones in the news are ambien and lunesta... people take them, especially with some alcohol and wind up "sleep walking" and eating or going out and driving and falling asleep while driving... they are safe, provided you go to bed when you take one....
