Upper Arm Pain & Weakness: Possible Causes & Relief

my right upper arm sometimes i have very little or no strength in it and can't it lift more than a few inches this started about 4 months ago. It hurts all the time but when I lie down it throbs with severe pain and is relieved only when I return to and upright postion. Can you tell me what this may be. Thank you, Barb

It is hard to tell from your description but sounds like some bursitis in the shoulder.  With it lasting this long, it is imperative that you have this checked out by your doctor.  If your stomach can take it, try taking Alleve, 2 pills twice a day in the meantime.
