Persistent Bad Breath: Causes, Potential Solutions & When to See a Doctor

Question
Hi,
I think my mom is ill,
i dont know what is really wrong with her
for the past couple of months she had this smell coming from her and we do not know what it is.
I believe it is coming from her mouth or nose.
Could it be her tosills or something of that sort?
She had blood work done and they said it was all fine.
What doctor should she go to?

Answer
Dear Yana,   Smells can actually come from any part of the body, but the gases from the medical problem will come out of the nose, mouth, and anus and even the poor of the skin..

If she has no symptoms, then this could take a while to diagnose....  Since it could come from just about any where in the body, most doctors need symptoms or something to go on....  Example, your mother complains of abdominal pain or intestinal pain, then an upper and lower GI would be performed....  Example, if your mother complains of throat or sinus pain or problems, then a ct-scan of the head and neck may be needed....

Also, it would be good for her to get a copy of her blood work (lab results)....  Often doctors are too busy to read between the line and connect the dots when blood work in normal or close to abnormal inorder to find the problem...

I can't tell you what type of doctor to go to until you tell me what symptoms your mother is having... Example of symptoms is :
Is there any pain
Where if the pain coming from
Does she have a change in bowel movement habits
Does her chest hurt
Does her throat hurt
Does she have a head ache
Is the skin and whites of her eyes yellow
etc, etc, etc, etc,

These are all symptoms, and before I can help you I need to know what her symptoms are...

Thank you,   karen
