Metformin Long-Term Effects: What to Expect After 5-10 Years

sir in borderline DM case metformin use of daily 500 once or twice as per eating schedule..what will be long term effect of metformin use after 5 years or 10 years..any data?

Metformin (Glucophage) 500mg once or twice daily for treatment of glucose intolerance or mild DM is preferred drug.  I use it as an anti-aging drug in non-diabetics.  Only risk is increased incidence of renal imparement with use of IV contrast (dye).  I wrote an article on the very subject last year.  If you email vitasanus@aol.com and request it, it will be sent to you.  The article spells out all the pros and cons.
