Delay Your Period Safely: Options & Considerations

I have recently been fitted with an IUD called Mirena(levongestrel)as I have been suffering with heavy periods, I am 44 years old, before this IUD was fitted I took a drug called Norethisterone to delay my period as I was going on holiday last year.  I have booked a holiday and have realised that my period is due during this time. I need to know if I can take the norethisterone again,if not is there anything I can take, as it is too late to change my holiday dates. Thank you for your assistance.

I would not take any additional hormones with an IUD in place without first checking with the doctor that inserted the device.
I am a little surprised though, that you have been put on hormone therapy at your age for heavy periods. Have you been worked up for the possibility that you are pre menopausal?
