Blood Pressure Medications & Frequent Urination: What to Know

Question
I am a 46 year old female with high blood pressure.  I take Spironolactone (50 mg twice daily) and Diovan HCT (160mg/12.5mg) once daily in the morning.  I feel like I spend half my day running to the restroom to urinate.  I go at least every 45 minutes in the morning and every hour or so the rest of the day.  Is this normal with these meds?  Or should I talk to my doctor about this?

Thanks.

Answer
It may mean you have a low volume bladder and the diuretics just make you go even more.  You may be able to get BP controlled without diuretics with other meds, or take one that just works hard for a little while then the effects go away after a few hours so you are better in the afternoon. (Something like Lasix).  You do need to talk w/ your doc about it.
