Right Upper Arm Pain & Weakness: Possible Causes & When to See a Doctor

my right upper arm sometimes. --i have very little or no strength in it and can't it lift more than a few inches this started about 4 months ago. It hurts all the time but when I lie down it throbs with severe pain and is relieved only when I return to and upright postion. Can you tell me what this may be. Thank you, Barb

Dear Barb,   This could be just about anything from arthritis to a torn muscle or tendon....  I suggest that you see your doctor and have a Ct-scan or MRI done or other types of x-rays to find out the problem...  It would also be good to have a RF blood test done to see if it is positive which could indicate Rheumatoid Arthritis....
