Upper Abdominal Pain: Causes, Relief & When to See a Doctor

Question
Hi, Im 32 yrs old. I started having panic attacks when I was 13, and a little while after that I have had re-occurring stomach problems. Ive had upper g.i.'s, lower g.i.'s, stomach x-rays, and ultrasounds. Ive been told I have irritable bowel syndrome, irritable colon, spastic colon, etc. The pain in my upper stomach got so bad a week ago I went to the e.r. They did an x-ray and said no ulcers or blockages. The pain is a sharp knife-like stabbing feeling. It doesnt seem that changes in my diet help either. Any ideas or suggestions please! Thanks

You may need a MRI scan to rule out diverticulitis or intervertebral disc lesions. Also strain your urine and check it frequently for blood cells to rule calculi.
