Post-Hernia Repair Pressure & Cough: Is It Normal?

Question
Dear Robert,

3 years ago, I had laparascopic surgery to repair an inguinal hernia on the right side. All is well-I even jog 5+ miles daily. I just got a bad cold with congestion which causes an annoying cough. When I cough, I can feel a slight pulling sensation and pressure where the patch was put. Now the cold is subsiding and the coughing is slowly disappearing. The "pressure" is much less.
Are these "normal" reactions after a hernia repair? Is it anything I need to worry about? Thank you.

Answer
it could be a strain, or could be a hernia recurring... at this point, the only thing to do is to watch it... you may have strained the area with coughing.... Give it some time and hopefully it will subside over the next 2-3 weeks.

Hope this works...
