-----Question-----
Hi everybody,

I am 26 years old and I have never worked with jewelry a day in my life.  I currently work as a optician selling and repairing eyewear.  My Jewelry is currently looking to sell his location.  It is a jewelry repair store.  I have know the man for about 5-7 years and we have become good friends.  He tells me if i am interested that I would do every well  in his location.  He also discussed with me that he has a jeweler that would be working for me full time.  So I would pick up the skill has I went on and deal with the customer service end??
Any feed back, You think it is a good situation or not?

Greetings,

It could be a gold mine and could also be fraught with danger.
My main concern would be that you have no jewellery skills - or limited skills at the best, which puts you in the position of relying upon others and trusting what they say.
The spot may be excellent and you may do very well there, however I would personally think it better to have some jewellery knowledge before taking on the shop.
Maybe you could have a long transition  period.........

Good Luck, Cheers and Merry Xmas, P

Answer
Hello Again,

I would be wanting to take the time to do an intensive jewellery/gemstone course, which may take 4~months if there is an afterhours one available.....
As you have worked with spectacles, you will have good hand skills and understanding of repairs.
Without the knowledge, I would be wanting him to stay at least 6months - however you may get the understanding in less time if you get to do some sort of course.

Good Luck and Cheers, P
