Transdermal NSAIDs for Osteoarthritis Pain Relief: A Doctor's Perspective

Question
My mother has osteoarthritis and is awaiting a tkr.  She has severe GI distress with any oral nsaid product she has tried.  She will take tylenol.  Is there an available transdermal nsaid patch (much like a duragesic patch) that will bypass the gi tract and possibly offer her some much needed pain relief?
Thanks
Anna Maria

Answer
No there is not.
You may want to consider a more holistic approach which can even avoid the surgery. Ask her doctor if she can take the following:
1) 3000MG of Omega 3 before each meal
2) 250-500 mg of magnesium oxide before each meal and at bed
3) 500-600mg of calcium carbonate with Vit D twice a day
4) 1000mg of Vit C before each meal
5) 1/2 Centrum Silver before each meal
6) B-50 high potency B complex before each meal

Our arthritis and fibromyalgia patients often have no pain after 2-3 weeks and continue painfree if they stay on this restorative regimen
