Thrush in Children: Causes, Symptoms & Treatment

Question
my 5year old daughter seems to have thrush what could have caused it and what treamtents should i use to help it to go away and is it possible for a 5year old to get thrush?

Answer
Anyone can get thrush (oral candidiasis)... usually those who are immunocompromised or have been "blasted" with antibiotics.

If she gets it often she should be worked up for an immunological deficiency disorder (IgA deficiency) and/or HIV testing (AIDs patients get thrush.. usually the first visible sign).  Also repeated use of broad spectrum antibiotics will cause a person to become susceptable to thrush, so use judiciously.  See her peditrician about a workup.
