Understanding a Mildly Sclerotic Aortic Valve: What It Means for Your Health
QuestionDear Dr. Borucki:
Thanks for being here.
I wanted to ask you - there was a mention of a mildly scierotic trileaflt aortic valve...no aortic stenoisis or regurgitation on a recent echo I had to track mitral valve prolapse. I am 52. Is mildly scierotic an automatic sign of CAD or normal aging? How concerned should I be?
Answerit has no relationship to CAD.... this is a valve problem (a mechanical problem) that can be related to blood pressure but the two things are not related. Your risk of heart disease is independent of the valve, so you need to look at those risks to get your answer.
