Persistent Lip Split & Cold Sore - Seeking Advice

I have a split in my bottom lip that just doesnt want to heal...it is accompanied by what appeared to be a cold sore but has not responded to any of the salves available over the counter..I think I may have nipped it while shaving at one point..and have avoided going to a dermatologist up to now, but may have to...the time span is 3 weeks...thank you

Hi Nick,
These things although annoying and painful will eventually heal. Keeping it moist with a vaseline based lip balm (not an antibiotic ointment) is the best treatment. Also you might try Vitamin B complex which can sometimes aid in healing the lip.
