Swollen Lip: Causes, Symptoms & When to See a Doctor

Question
Hi,

The last two mornings I have awoken with half of my bottom lip swollen - its not painful, but just a little numb. Yesterday the swelling subsided gradually over the course of the day without me taken any anti-hystamines. Any ideas what the cause is?
I cant think of anything I've ingested that's new in the last couple of days, and there appears to be no ulcers or cold sores around my lip.
Just seems a bit odd for the same thing to happen overnight after subsiding during the day.

Many thanks.

Answer
if you are on a blood pressure medicine, contact your doctor immediately and hold it until you talk it over with him/her.  There is an allergic reaction that can occur, even if you have been on the meds for a long time.

Other than that, a new medicine could cause it, like an antibiotic or it could just be a fluke or could be some food you might be allergic to.......

Hope this helps.
