Leg Cramps & Leg Lump: Potential Causes & What To Do

Question
I am a active 38 year old womanwho walks 1-2 miles a day.  I have recently noticed a lump on the out side of my left leg near the calf.  It appears to be a muscle or tendon.  I have been getting charlie horse like leg craps in my  upper thigh of the same leg.  Do you think these symptoms are related, and what if anything should I do  for them.

Answer
a lump out there can be a few different things... an enlarged part of a vein, usually you can tell cause it is squishy.  A lipoma (non cancer fatty growth with it's own sheath, gets bigger sometimes if you gain or lose weight), a muscle growth... if you had an injury, could have a small muscle tear there and now a bulge.  But if it is getting bigger and especially if it is hard, it should be looked at by a doctor.

Hope this helps...
