Bluish-Purple Leg Spotting & Swelling: Possible Causes & Concerns

Yesterday I noticed that my right leg has a bluish purple patchy spotting below the knee but I have no pain. My ankle has some slight swelling and when the skin is pressed it takes a while for the color to return. I have had hip and knee problems since I was a teenager. Told they were just growing pains. I am only 28 and pretty healthy. I have always been told I had low blood pressure and that was the cause of my cold hands and feet. Any ideas of what this could possibly be? It kinda has me a little scared.

a blue patch that blanches and returns sounds like an enlarged vein where you squeeze out the blood then it returns.... With the cold hands and feet, I would have your thyroid checked and checked for anemia also.  But overall, don't panic on this one.... but get checked.
