Understanding Genital Warts and Herpes Simplex: Clarifying Blood Test Results

Question
Thank for your previous answer and I'd appreciate it so very much if you could answer a couple more.Is it possible that since they knew I have cold sores they wouldn't think to say they did find a positive for something in the blood work? Back a long time ago in health class we were taught that herpes simplex one is oral herpes and simplex two was genital and that one of them could cause the other. But since then I've heard simplex one can't carry over and cause the type two. I'm so confused these days. I talked to my sister about it and she said with her first pregnancy towards the end she had the same problem. her gyno did a biopsy and sent it off to the lab and the results were precancerous cells. Could this be a possiblity? They only reason I ask you so much is that the doctor I've dealt with and become accostomed to won't be back in the office until Tuesday. Again thank you very much.

-----Question-----
I'm three months pregnant and two days ago I was at my second ob/gyn appointment. From my blood tests taken a month before I was told I don't have HIV/AIDS, HPV or any other STDS. On this second visit my doctor gave me a vaginal exam and did the pap smear and other cultures for testing. Last night after having unprotected sex with my husband ( who's only partner has been me) I discovered bumps in my vaginal area. A tiny cluster near the opening of my vagina towards my anus, one on the lip and two more around my clitoris. Only the biggest one is itchy and all of them are red. What I want to know is that if my doctor saw these the the previous day wouldn't she have said something to me about them? and if my blood test came back negative for HPV and everything else, could it be something other than genital warts? I'm scared that it is and that even though we thought we were free from any STDS that I've given this to my husband.

erin;

most likely the doctor didnt see them,beacuse they were not there.
if they are warts,the test for HPV would come back positive.
i really dont know what to say,but i do suggest calling the GYN,and inform them of this.

i wish i could do more for you,but with you being pregnant,i suggest you call your GYN.

Answer
erin;

well i guess anything is possible,at this point.

herpes is caused by the herpes simplex virus[HSV]. there two types-oral and genital. that which affects the mouth and lips,causing a cold sore,generally stems from herpes simplex virus type[HSV-1].
that which affects the genital area is typically caused by herpes simplex virus[HSV-2]. genital herpes may be transmitted by vaginal or anal sex. the virus enters the body through tiny cuts in the skin or mucous membranes. it can infect the eyes by contact with a contaminated finger. it affects both men and women.

your getting very upset it seem,i dont blame you,but you have to remember your pregnant,you need to relax...keep the baby safe...

make sure you call your doctor on tuesday.

heres something to do;

take a good long warm/hot bath,and just relax.
