QuestionHello Dr. Borucki, I have a question about genital warts. Ok, so Im a male, 31 years old and in a committed relationship for 11 years. About 3 to 4 years ago I noticed some white pimply looking bumps at the base of my penis. Sometimes they itch and I noticed that they may be spreading slowly.
My fiance gets her regular female check-ups yearly, and has never been positive for HPV's or any other STD's. So I am a bit confused on how I have contracted these bumps. If they are indeed genital warts, what is the incubation time for the warts to take effect and produce visible signs? I would see a doctor, but right now I do not have health insurance. Thank you for any information that you can part with. Thank you, sincerely, Jared
Answersometimes you can have BPP- benign penile papules at the crown.... the base of the head of the penis. This is not HPV.
If at the base of the penis where it attaches to body, this could be.
Probably 90% of sexually active adults have HPV, most don't have symptoms. However, they can cause some warts, but people can be infected and not develop warts until years afterwards... so there is no telling, assuming these are warts), of when you ever got infected. The best way is to have a dermatologist, or your primary doctor take a look, maybe biopsy one if they think it might be warts.
So, first, establish the diagnosis... then proceed....
