genital warts are caused y human papillomavirus[HPV],genital warts are transmitted by contact with the warts during vaginal,oral,or anal sex or by touching infected towels or clothing.

women are extremely suscepitible to genital warts because cervical cells divide quickly,which makes it easier for the virus to multiply. this is important,because HPV is the single most important risk factor for cervical cancer.

genital warts may take one month to several years to appear. and while they can show up where you can see them,such as on the outer genitals, they often show up in places you cant see,such as in the vagina,cervix,or anus. they are typically soft and flesh-colored,and they resemble tiny cauliflowers. they are usually painless,but they may itch.


a doctor may apply one of several chemicals directly to the warts,or he may send you home with prescription medicine that you can apply yourself. a doctor may also choose to freeze them off[cryotherapy],burn them off[electrocauterization],or remove them surgically or with a laser. but results may not last; warts recur at least 30% of the time,which means that you may need more than one treatment;
