AnswerDear Stephanie,
These symptoms are really not specific enough for me to try to determine a possible cause for your pain in this forum. Right-sided lower abdominal pain, especially if you experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, can indicate appendicitis. It can also be related to an intestinal obstruction, diverticulitis, or an ovarian issue.
Right upper quadrant abdominal pain can indicate a liver issue or Hepatitis A, which is a viral infection that can be obtained eating in restaurants with poor food handling practices. It could also be pain related to your gall bladder.
So, you see, the possible causes are many! If the pain continues and/or worsens, you really need to be seen by a physician to determine a cause.
I know this probably didn't help much, but abdominal pain is just too general a symptom to give you a specific reason for your pain. I do hope this improves for you! Have a happy Christmas season and travel safe!!
