Questionhi,
i had a cough and runny nose with headache for the past few days. i was coughing up alot of green mucus that hurt my chest. i am feeling better and now the little bit of mucus im coughing is clear but my cough is dry and deep sounding, im still coughing alot and im a bit short of breath with some gurgling sounds with deep breathing. could my cold have turned into pnemonia? i have no fever or other symptoms just the congestion and headache and cough. thanks
AnswerHi Tiffany,
I would definitely recommend that you seek medical attention. There are over 20 types of pneumonia. Your description basically pinpoints to one type of infection - chlamydia pneumoniae. It is not associated with the sexually transmitted infection - chlamydia. Chlamydia pneumonia has the exact clinical picture that you have described. It is an airborne bacteria that causes mild pneumonia or bronchitis. It usually is more severe in smokers than non-smokers.
Antibiotics will be needed to treat this disease. There are various antibiotics available to treat it based on your age and medical history. Please consult with your physician for further assistance.
