Late Period After Postpartum: Causes & What to Do
QuestionSo here's my question... I had my son on 11-11-08 (5 months ago)... I had my postpartum bleeding for about 3.5 weeks... I attempted breast feeding but do to issues with him having reflux stopped that before I was even done bleeding... I have had 2 normal (or close to normal) periods since then... however this month I am a week late... Due to time and having a new baby my husband and I have cut our sex life in half... We use condoms with spermacide and to our knowledge have not had any "accidents"... But now I am a week late... is this normal?? will my body get back on track??
AnswerHi Heather,
It's frustrating, but yes, it can take several cycles for your periods to get back to normal after a birth, so yes, it is normal to have some irregularity for the first 4-6 cycles after birth.
If you suspect you might be pregnant, go ahead and take a pregnancy test.
