Understanding Elevated Lymphocyte Levels and Swollen Lymph Nodes in Children

Question
my 3 year old son has had swollen lymph nodes in his neck for over three months, i recently asked for a blood test to be done and it came back that his lymphocyte level is at 70%. two months ago he saw the doctor and was put on keflex but the swelling did not go down, so i am wondering what could cause this.

Answer
Hi Rachel,
There are any number of illnesses that can cause swollen lymph nodes. It would be hard to pick any one without knowing quite a bit more. He should have some follow up blood work to see where his blood count is now. He might need a more extensive workup to determine the cause of this problem.
