Ear Lobe Infection: Symptoms, Causes & Treatment
QuestionI recently purchased (what I thought were) Nickle Free earrings. After wearing them for a few days I started to see a white crust forming around the earring hole in my left ear so I stopped wearing them. I put a bit of neosporin on the hole but didn't help.
A week later I am now experiencing puss & a yellow crust around the earring hole as well as a red/swollen ear lobe. Is this something I need an antibiotic for or should I continue to clean it with peroxide & use neosporin?
AnswerHi Lora,
Avoid neosporin and peroxide like the plague. That may be most of your problem. Wash the ear lobes well and use POLYSPORIN ointment. Keep the earring out of the hole until this all settles down. If it doesn't get to looking better in a few more days, you may need antibiotics.
