Understanding Neurological Exam Results: What Do They Mean?

Question
I had a neurological exam today, the Dr. thinks I fibromylagia or MS, if I don't improve in a month he wants an MRI, I don't have INS. so he wanted to take the conservative approach I guess.
My question is, he did an exam on me, I had to walk on my toes and heels, touch his finger then my nose, and a number of other test.  I passed them, what does that mean?  What are they looking for when they do those test?  How accurate are they?
Thanks!

Answer
I am not sure what your symptoms are, which decides what they are looking for as far as possible diagnosis'   heel/toe walk usually tests for lumbar nerve problems, like a disc pressing on nerves... finger to nose is pretty non-specific, general exam to look for coordination (part of the brain-cerebellum)  Physical exam is not that accurate or specific for strange neurologic symptoms in general......
