Question I had a neurological exam today, the Dr. thinks I fibromylagia or MS, if I don't improve in a month he wants an MRI, I don't have INS. so he wanted to take the conservative approach I guess.
My question is, he did an exam on me, I had to walk on my toes and heels, touch his finger then my nose, and a number of other test. I passed them, what does that mean? What are they looking for when they do those test? How accurate are they?
Thanks!
AnswerI am not sure what your symptoms are, which decides what they are looking for as far as possible diagnosis' heel/toe walk usually tests for lumbar nerve problems, like a disc pressing on nerves... finger to nose is pretty non-specific, general exam to look for coordination (part of the brain-cerebellum) Physical exam is not that accurate or specific for strange neurologic symptoms in general......
