Lupron Injections for Ovarian Remnant Syndrome: Effects on the Pituitary & Side Effects

Question
I was just told that I would have to have injections of Lupron to help put me into menopause because of a second occurance of ORS ovarian remnant syndrome.  The doctor referred to the Pituitary Gland.  Can you tell me how the Lupron injections will affect the Pituitary gland?

What side affects should I expect?  thank you for your help. bonnie

Answer
bonnie;

lupron-is a synthetic version of the naturally occurring gonadotropin-releasing hormones[GnRH]. lupron suppresses shedding of the endometriosis,a condition in which cells from the endometrium grow outside of the uterus. endometriosis causes painful growths to form around the outsides of the uterus,fallopian tubes, and ovaries.

this drug lowers estrogen levels,which can lead to a decrease in bone density both in men and women. decreased bone density could increase your risk of osteoporosis,or brittle bone disease,later in life. consequently, the drug is not usually given for longer than 6 months at a time.

side effects cant be anticipated. if any develop or change in intensity,inform your doctor as soon as possible. only your doctor can determine if its safe for you to continue taking lupron.

i hope all of this helps your need.
