Understanding UTI Symptoms & Leukocytes: What You Need to Know

I've had UTI symptoms for the past 2 months, i was given Cipro but a few weeks later development symptoms again.  I went to the Drs yesterday and i have Leukocytes in my urine.  What does that mean?  I was given Bactrim DS for 10 days.  I've taken 3 pills so far but still have symptoms.  How long does it take for symptoms to go away? Also, having Leukocytes mean that I could have an STD?

Leukocytes are white blood cells that fight infection and are often seen in urine that is infected. Sounds like you should have a urine culture to be sure that the antibiotics you are taking are even indicated to treat the "bug" that has infected you. You then have to look at why you suddenly started to have this long term urinary tract infection so it can be corrected.
