QuestionI am a 30 year old female and have always been in good health. My problem has been going on and off for the last couple years and there are a variety of symptoms...lightheadedness, headaches, pain/pressure in my right ear, pain/weakness in both my arms, tingling in my middle back and my hands, and heart palpitations. I have been to my doctor a couple times and she has done blood work (which came back good) and has basically chalked it up to anxiety. I questioned it but gave a couple different medicines a shot which did not make any difference and I eventually stopped taking them. I lead a very busy life as a fulltime student and mother of two (a four year old and a seven month old) and would like to figure out what is going on with me so that I can give more of myself to my kids and my schooling. Any suggestions or direction you can send me in?? Thank you.
Answeryour symptoms are pretty vague and don't appear connected.... lightheadedness and headaches have many many causes.
The pressure in the R ear can be wax or a problem with normal pressure changes in the ear from infections, like sinus and from allergies. This can be hard to detect because it comes and goes and can look normal at times. Sometimes a trial of Afrin nasal spray for a couple of days can resolve it and give an idea that it is allergy/infection.
The pain and weakness and tingling in the arms... because you said both arms, that sounds like a central problem, most commonly a disc in the neck pressing on some nerves. There are other whole body nerve problems that cause this but are very rare. I assume with the blood tests you had the thyroid checked.
The heart palps .... very common, not harmful, just annoying in a young healthy person. Aggravating factors are lack of sleep, too much caffeine, cigarettes, alcohol. Stress, some medications. Again, with blood tests, I assume you had a CBC and thyroid tests.
So this is a start... you might ask your doc to get a neurology consult to start things out.
