QuestionMy husband's tsh was six point something and his physician started him on 100mcg of Levothyroxine. In six months time, his tsh was 0.13 and in ten months time, his tsh was
0.20 and has stayed there for over a year now. I think he is taking too much medication and needs to be on a lower dose, but when I phoned the physician to ask him about it, he said he goes by the t-4 or some kind of numbers like that. However, those numbers were in the normal range when my husband was diagnosed and still are. Plus, the doctor went by my husband's tsh when he diagosed him. My husband's sister has the same thing and her tsh was 6.9 around the same as my husband's and her doctor started her on 88mcg of synthroid and her tsh went to normal and stayed there. Why won't the physician listen to me... he just brushed me off, when I phoned about my husband's tsh being 0.20 forover a year now. I have found out that this can cause bone loss and arterial fibrillation. Thank you
Answertoo much T4 (synthroid) isn't good..... but I tend to go by the TSH... that is what the body says is normal.... keep it between .5 and 1.5 and things work out well..... but when you make a dose change you need to wait 2 months before repeating the TSH.... the tsh is what the body interprets is normal..... too high, not enough synthroid, too low, too much synthroid (sounds backwards, but it isn't......)
