Questionlet me give you a run down of my recent situation...I found bed bugs in my apt. and didnt know what they were until after about 2 weeks ( thought they were hornet stings ) and repeated bites at night. got a high temp with the last bite ( or from something else unrelated ) went to the emergency room at my local hospital and my blood tests and urin sample came back with nothing irregular or wrong. the doctor said I also had high blood pressure and needed to speak to my family doctor about dealing with that. had trouble sleeping that night then temp went down and slept. still had a slight temp morning after and noticed i couldnt really do much ( I like to cycle for groceries within a 5 block radius ) without aggravating the temp.
so now.... I read that repeated bites from bed bugs can result in accumulated poisoning or mild toxification is that a possibility? that my system is fighting the built up ' ' the bed bugs left behind after feeding? ( have changed sleeping arrangements and called the pest control guy ) so how would that not show up in the blood tests? or is it the hypertension in some way? ( i also came across a piece about bed bugs that they can cause sleep loss from anxiety or just simply stress because of the fear of more bites - can high blood pressure be temporary? ).
Answerrepeated superficial insect bites realistically do not cause a "whole body" inflammatory process like a high fever. It is likely that you had another illness along the way such as a viral illness, strep throat, urinary infection, prostate infection, etc.
Re: blood tests.... those are not specific, so it doesn't surprise me that the bed bug bites don't cause any whole body/blood change. And if it is a viral illness causing the fever, then the blood counts easily may be normal.
The blood pressure elevation may be real or may not be.... the only way to tell is to track the blood pressures daily for a few weeks and see where it trends.....
The good news is that when you wash the linens and have eliminated the bugs, all the skin symptoms will go away. And hopefully, the blood pressure elevation was just temporary... but, keep checking the blood pressure.
