Protruding Ribs and Sleep Difficulties: Understanding the Connection

Question
Hello,

I went to the doctor last week as I have been having trouble sleeping the last two years, due to pain/discomfort in my ribs. He examined me and said I had protruding ribs at the bottom and that they were spoon-shaped, and that I was born that way ( he gave it a name, but I don't remember- any ideas?) Anyway, he was not able to do anything about it, and that is fine, but I still have the problem of not being able to sleep at night! It takes ages to drop off. I've looked online for people with the same problem but have had no success. I can't get to sleep on my back, and on the side and front are painful. I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks SO much for your time,

Lucy

Answer
The easiest way would be to take pressure off that area, by supporting the side, above and below the ribs.  Or sleeping in a completely different position.  There isn't some operation to correct this.  It is going to be a functional fix, probably.  I hope this helps.
