Post-Mastectomy Concerns: Knee Pain & Hormone Therapy - Seeking Medical Advice
QuestionHi Doctor,
My mother had undergone mastectomy on her left breast in June 2008. She has completed her chemotherapy cycles as well as radiation therapy and now on hormone pills. I have had some queries before which Dr. Minas T Chrysopoulo answered but apparently he is on vacation now. I dont know who to ask for the problems my mom is having now.
She had some knee pain last week and she felt like it was something with the bone. So she went to see an orthopedic doctor. After one day of medicine she started vomiting and cannot eat anything. From that on she has been like this for a week now. Whatever she eats she is throwing up. So she went to see her regular doctor who is oncology medicine doctor. He gave her some medicine too she was fine for one day (No puking and was eating as well) But today in the morning she is throwing up again and not feeling good. Don't know whats going on with her and which doctor should we go and see. Is it something related to the stomach or something else dont know. Her oncology medicine doctor asked her to get a blood sugar test done. She is having some pain in the back of her neck too.
AnswerSo she is done with chemo completely from your note....
The knee pain medicines can often cause stomach pain, stomach upset. If she is having stomach pain in addition to the vomiting, she should have a basic evaluation including a blood count and urine count. I would also consider having her start some stomach acid reducer like Prilosec or Zantac.
I hope this helps...
