Bartholin's Cyst & Infection: Symptoms, Treatment & Prevention
QuestionI have a large fluid filled lump on the right side of my vaginal opening. It has drained some and the discharge has both blood and pus in it. How do I get this cleared up and what can be done to prevent it from happening again?
AnswerIt sounds like a bartholin gland infection. Sometimes (remember, sometimes) it can be associated with sexually transmitted diseases, like gonorrhea) But in general, I would treat with antibiotics since it is draining. If it doesn't drain and you have a marble sized lump there, then we often drain those.
Women normally have fluid producing glands there- bartholin glands that produce moisture to keep that tissue soft and moist but can get infected sometimes.....
I hope this helps....
