Night Leg Cramps: Causes, Prevention & Best Mineral Choices
QuestionI am 84, good general health, on no medication but I suffer extremely from leg cramps at night. Getting up and walking, if possible, then usually removes the strong cramp but can leave the leg muscle very sore. On the past I have overcome these cramps by taking ample calcium, magnesiun and potassium. This time I havent prevented them. I note now there are many many forms of these minerals, I possibly need advise on the recommend forms and amounts. Plus I need to know what the basic problem is that is causing vaious muscles to cramp so strongly and visciously, usually in the lower leg or ankle. Thank you.
AnswerIt sounds like ischemic vascular disease so you should check in with your doctor for plavix, aspirin and trental plus some tests to be sure you are not sitting on a blood clot. If it is, the minerals are not likely to be effective in any form or dose. OK?
