Seeking Medical Advice: Evaluation of Health Concerns & C. Diff Recovery

Question
Hi Dr. Borucki, I was hoping to get your opinion, thoughts, impressions or any advice on my general state of health, if I could. I havent been able to get much help from the walk in doctors in my area and would therefore greatly appreciate your help, which might take some out of box thinking.

In early '09 I got a sore throat for which I took antibiotics, the throat got better in a matter of days, but the antibiotics lead to c diff infection. The infection itself was severe (pains, nausea, diarrhea, then vomiting and blood in diarrhea). I was given flagyl for the c diff. The pains and diarrhea settled after a few days, but the nausea persisted for a long time after. This is about where my problems commenced and before this I didn't have any health problems (that I know of, besides having asthma during childhood, Im a 24 year old male, Ive been waiting since this to get 'ok' again and finish school).

[A general feeling of being tired, nausea and generally not good began after c diff and antibiotics]

About a month or so after c diff, I developed Pulsatile Tinnitus in my right ear, I went to the ENT and he said it was ok but didnt say why it was happening. I got an mri anyways. The mri didn't show acoustic neuroma, but there was some 'dirty grey matter' in the brain matter. The GP said don't worry about it and that this shows up in any mri. (maybe he said this to not further stress me) I still have Pulsatile Tinnitus.

[cause of Pulsatile Tinnitus unknown]

About the same time as I noticed the Pulsatile Tinnitus I started to notice Blurred and Double Vision. This usually happens when make head movements or quick eye movements. I went to the Optometrist as of this month, but he said he didn't find anything and to just monitor it.

[cause of blurred/double vision unknown]

(Pulsatile Tinnitus and vision problems began around '09 and persist today, feeling of nausea began during c diff and bugs me to this day)

This month (March 3 2012), I experienced vertigo for the first time and diagnosed with labrynthitis/Vertigo Vestibulitis in the right ear.

Im not sure what is going on, but I haven't been the same since '09 and am trying to get back to 'normal'. Sometimes I think probably something sinister is going on, but just don't know what.

My concern is if something is going on that is causing these symptoms for me? Or if it is just stress? Can something be causing both the Pulsatile Tinnitus and the Labrynthitis since these are both ear things? Any thoughts or recommendations?

Answer
I don't know how things work up in Canada as far as access to specialists.... but down here, I would take a look and probably send you to a neurologist to be evaluated.... I know we tend to spend a lot of health care dollars down here, but I would be tempted to repeat the MRI of the head.

I agree with your prev doctors statements, but since this is ongoing and a little progressing.... I would repeat the study since there was not a definite diagnosis.
