Endometriosis and the Uterus: Separating Fact from Fiction

Question
i was told that when you have Endometriosis that your womb falls out or deteriates but im not quite sure with that i thought it might have been a myth. Is this true?

Answer
Hi Kirsty,

What you were told about the womb falling out and deteriorating is slightly true, but somewhat dramatic.

Endometriosis begins with a retrograde flushing of endometrial tissue that backs up into the fallopian tubes and then sprays into the abdominal cavity. The emdometrial cells can then implant themselves on any organ-ovaries, fallopian tubes, bladder, bowel, kidneys, and grow with each monthly cycle.  The "ovaries" are the most likely site of endometrial implants.  The "cul-de-sac" the cavity between the uterus and the rectum is a high nesting location for these cells thus very often found during surgical testing. Endometriosis has been found in the lung-armpits-and brain- BUT - these are *RARE*...

7 early warning symptoms of Endo.

1. Menstrual cramps that increase in severity over time.

2. Intermenstrual pain. Wrenching pelvic pain.

3. Dyspareunia.  Painful intercourse.

4. Infertility of unknown origin.

5. Bladder infections.

6. Pelvic pain. Pain experienced a few days before and during the menstrual cycle.

7.History of ovarian cysts.

Menstrual blood containing viable fragments of endometrial tissue are regurgitated through the fallopian tubes into the abdominal cavity.

Endometriosis is a very painful disease, and one that can become very costly over time. It grows like a cancer, and leaves its victims miserable as it spreads branches of new growth. More and more *scar tissue*.

I hope this answers your question, and wish you good health, happiness, and an Endo free future.

Love,
Bet
