QuestionI have a history of irregular periods. When I get it, they are not excessively heavy. I had not had my period for ten weeks when my OBGYN started my period with medication. The medication worked, and I got my period. The period ended and a few days later, I had bleeding for a couple of hours that made me think I was getting my period again. But the bleeding stopped and now I have a brown, bad smelling discharge with minimal pain/cramps. What do you think this could be?
AnswerHi Kristen!
Have you been formally diagnosed with Endo? It does mimick endo. My periods were also, always staggered and rarely on a schedule until I began the BC pill. I am still menstruating and I am really goofed up now.
One characteristic of endo, is irregular periods and spotting thru out a month, especially during ovulation. I'd be willing to bet you have something like that going on. Endo can cause irregularities for alot of what we assume are normal functions on a monthly basis...Are your cramps and pain pretty bad? Usually when cramping and brown blood accompany a period, it is a sign of endo. Your endometrium wall is supposed to open and allow normal blood flow during a period. With endo, the appropriate level of hormones are not released into your system to allow this, thus cramping and brownish, backed up blood is a result.
My advice would be to contact a specialist gyno to take a look at you. Endo can progress quickly, so the faster the better.
I hope you find relief and best of luck to you! Take care of yourself.
