Understanding Post-Surgery Pain After Endometriosis Treatment

Question
My mother had a partial hystarectume a few years ago and only had her utereus out due to severe endometriosis. Now seven years later she had to have another operation and get her ovaries and tubes removed as well because she had a tumor on her left ovary that was not cancerous, but was from her endometriosis. She had this operation 3 weeks ago and has severe pain on her left side and really doesn't feel good. Do you know what can be causing this?

Answer
Hi Levette
Sorry to her your Mom isn't feeling well. MY gyno had always sad, that it was best to remove everything at one time to avoid future trouble with the ovaries...not all woman have this trouble. Apparently your Mom has.
Severe endo is a hard disease to get rid of. Your Mom should start to feel better soon providing the endo did not invade other parts of her body. Recent research shows that endo can even invade your lungs, if un treated.
But more than likely, she should start to feel better, as the ovaries are her source of hormones and once the hormones are no longer being created in the ovaries to feed the endo...it should dissipate.
I'd keep in touch with her doctor. Endo is such a weird disease, I swear it never really goes away once it gets ahold of a womans body.
I hope she feels better and heals well. At least the worst is over for her. Just keep her doctor involved with her symptoms.
    Take care,
Martha
