Endometriosis & Pain Management: A Personal Story

Question
My mom told me had endo, but had surgery to get it fixed. That was before she had me and my 2 brothers. After that, no way, couldn't have them no matter what.
Anyway, I used to have the death cramps so we asked my doctor if it could be endo. She made no big deal about it and just put me on birth control to help the cramping.
Anyone who knows me and my cramping, laughed at that thinking "NO PILL IS BIG ENOUGH TO CONQUER THE CRAMPS OF DEATH". Turns out, my cramping has subsided. It still aches every now and then, but sometimes I believe that is just me getting prepared for what I am used to.
Can birth control really help the death cramps?
Is it just taking away my pain? Could it actually be helpful?
I was born to birth and be a wonderful mom. Just taking birth control for what could be endo isn't going to ruin my chances of children?
How come my mom didn't need a hysterectomy? Are there different kinds of endometriosis?

Answer
Hi
Actually the BC pill is the best and cheapest way to help with horrible cramps. They will not hinder you from getting pregnant in the future either. Not only do they keep you from getting pregnant while you are on them...they also keep your estrogen levels where they should be...which is a major contributor to endo and the cramping associated with your monthly period.
I too, was on the BC pills for years and they greatly helped me.
Being on the pill with endo, you get very little cramping. Also, endo is hereditary...so if your Mom, aunt or sister has it...chances are, you will too.
Best of luck to you and your health! Happy Holidays!
