Question
HI I am 23 have been diagnosed with Endometriosis for four years now. I have had two laps and they have found that I have IC and IBS. I did the lupron I loved it the only time I have been pain free,I stay on birth controls to help with pain and keeping the Endo down doesn't really work. I am in A LOT of pain the doctor says she doesn't know what else to do. No one believes the pain I am in they think I am making it up. I NOT THO! I was just wondering what else I can do I am at the end of my ropes. Please any advise would be helpful. I know I sound like a baby but, I won't to be normal again.
thanks

Answer
Dear Rach
You most certainly do not sound like a baby! I can attest to that same level of pain, throughout my life. My doctor used to tell me that when it came time to have a baby, that labor would be a cinch for me...because my monthly pains were much the same.
And you are right, people don't understand. It is so very frustrating. I was on the BC  pill for years and it really helped me. I had to get off of them due to migraines. All I use now is a prescription called Anaprox. It is an "as needed" med that is actually an anti inflammatory. It is not 100%, but it is close. What it does is reduce the swelling in the endometrium wall allowing better blood flow and thus less cramping, bloating and over all pain. The great thing about it is, you can take it anytime during a month. Sometimes, while ovulating, I would have horrendous pain in my left ovary, taking the Anaprox took that inflamed pain away.
I also felt better about taking the Anaprox rather than the BC...for sides effects.
Maybe ask your doctor or better yet, find a specialist in Endo...they usually come in the form of a high risk/fertility doctor.
I sure hope you find relief, I totally understand how poor you feel. Its like you feel awful for the entire month and never find any relief. It truly wears on you and unless you have these symptoms, people don't get it!
Best of luck and take care of yourself!
