my sister is 28 years of age and about 4 months ago started getting her period heavy and they would not go away after having it for about 2 weeks straight she went to a doctor and was told nothing was wrong 2 months later she still had it and after many doctor and ER visit still they said nothing is wrong they gave her pills to stop the bleeding and the pain shortly after she started to feel a little better and decided to go on vacation to visit her in laws who live in el salvador central america while there she suffered a hemmoragic stroke and is currently paralyzed and unable to communicate the doctors there believe that her body did not have enough blood and that is why she had a stroke and needed a blood transfusion. it is hard for us to contact the doctors since they are in another country and i dont speak spanish either but i was curious if any of the symptoms sound like anything you have expirenced or anything you have researched the information coming about my sister is just bits a pieces and it just happened less than two days ago so im looking for information anywhere i can get it thank you

AnswerDear Tabitha
I am so sorry to hear about your sister. This scenario may go beyond the enodmetriosis area...but I am convinced it is associated. I am very puzzled why the initial doctor she saw, did not insist on having an ultrasound or even have an examination where here uterus and cervix could be checked out. My first reaction to her issues, would be that she might have fibroids or something. Fibroids in the uterus cause excessive and heavy bleeding. Fibroids can only be found by doing an internal via ultrasound or actual biopsy.
I would try contacting the Endometriosis Research Center website...let them know wht has happened to your sister...something doesn't ring true with her situation. I feel the doctors on her first couple of visits might have been remiss in their exam?
I wish you, your sister and your family well.
