Question Hello Martha!
I've been diagnosed with an endometrial cyst 2 years ago, but didn't go for surgery. My cyst was pretty big (6 sm), but didn't grow and didn't give me much pain. But recently I found out that I have one more cyst formed (4 sm) and an adhesion. So, now I decided to go for surgery.
Now I'm looking for a surgeon and don't know how to choose. Do you have any recommendations for me?
Martha, what food and activities should I avoid with this kind of illness? Do you think that stress can trigger endometriosis? Did you try any supplements or medicine to keep it at bay?
Thank you so much.
AnswerHi Marina!
I am glad you have a correct diagnosis. I don't know where you live but I would scout out specialists in your area that practice in womens diseases. Some of these specialists are under the "High Risk/Fertility" title. You can also go on line to the Endo Research Center and inquire there for additional doctors.
As far as living with endo...because it can be debilitating...I have always tried to eat well, get exercise (walking) and always, always get alot of sleep. Endo made me so very tired all the time. Foods never seem to trigger endo for me but stress did seem to. I always seemed to have a more harsh period when I was stressed out.
I was treated with hormones for the majority of my endo years until I began to experience migraines. I now take an anti inflammatory called Anaprox. Its helps with the bloating, cramps and overall horrible feeling each month. It reduces your endometrium wall swelling allowing better blood flow thus less cramping. Works pretty well for me. And, it is taken only on an "as needed" basis.
I would ask my doctor (whoever you choose)...and good luck finding a good gyno. A good gyno can make all the difference in the world in living with endo!
