Endometriosis Relapse After Hysterectomy: A Personal Story

Question
I am not even sure how to start this other then to tell you alittle bit about my story . I am now 29 but had a complete abdominal hysterectomy at 23 . I had the hysterectomy because I had stage 4 endometriosis . I tried the Lupron , Depo , and even fertility treatment to become pregnant . All failed . Now that I am 29 and the exact same pain is back I know I have had a relapse of the endo . I go to the ER and they tell me there is no way that it is Endo because I have had a TAH . Now I feel like I am going insane . The pain get's worse and I continue to go to the ER with no help other then I think I am up to 22 CT scan's and FINALLY they took my appendix , And during the appendectomy they took pictures of continual endometriosis I now have proof . Now awaiting another surgery but we know now that it is all over my abdominal cavity and organ's . Is there really any point to have the surgery ?

Answer
Hi Melissa
Oh I feel for you! It is true, endo does not stop, even after a hysterectomy. Are you on hormones? Hormones will  help the endo grow even more.
I would get to a specialist, a gyno that is an expert in womans diseases...sometimes, they come under the title of "High Risk/Fertility"...
I would imagine another surgery would help you temporarily but a good doctor needs to help your body stop the spread of endo altogether.
I would also try the Endo Research Center website, they may be able to refer you to a doctor that can help you.
In the interim, I use a prescription called Anaprox that can help with the bloating, cramping and overall pain. It is taken on an "as needed" basis. It is an anti inflammatory. Ask a doctor about this med.
I hope you find help and comfort. Best of luck to you.
