Pregnancy Concerns: Understanding Timing & Options After Unprotected Sex

Question
I found out I was pregnant May 11, the day I was supposed to get my period.
My last period was April 13.  I had unprotected sex with a new boyfriend on
April 26 and took EC that night/next day.  The next day my ex came over and
we had sex.  That was the first time he ever came inside me.  Then, I had sex
again a few days later with the new boyfriend, although he pulled out.  I had
an ultrasound done yesterday, which said I was only 7 weeks along, even
though it is closer to eight weeks since my last period.  The doctor who did
the ultrasound told me that I conceived somewhere between May 3- May 9.
Is there anyway to guess who is more likely the father of this child?  And if I
didn't conceive until that time frame, then isn't it strange that I found out I
was pregant so soon?

Answer
Depending on how quickly your body produces HCG (and this can vary widely from woman to woman), a pregnancy test can show a positive result as early as 7 days past ovulation.  So no, it's not odd that you tested positive when you did.  Since your ultrasound was done so early, the date range your doctor gave you is likely very accurate.  Sperm can survive inside the woman for up to 4 days, so any intercourse you had after April 30 would have been the most likely to result in conception.  April 26 and 27 are probably not candidates.  However, if you have any doubts as to paternity, a DNA test after birth can confirm it for you.
